Course to know about Ikaho with sightseeing guides

We are offering sightseeing guides to customers visiting Ikaho Onsen for the purpose of letting them know the charm of unique histories and cultures such as sightseeing spots and historical sites as hot springs and bringing back more memories.  To ensure that customers will not get bored, and to be glad that they came to Ikaho, each member will guide innovation!  Requests from customers are also welcome.  We will also tell you about "Yokocho Guide" which is not well-known in the local area, commemorative photo spot and so on.

The station building of Ikaho ropeway is equipped with an information desk for sightseeing as well as exhibition corner and observation hall. It is perfect for gathering information on stone steps.

It was selected as "Ikaho Godo" from 1889 to 1969, and the Royal family visited us every year for the visit. Because of the land pattern with a lot of lightning, unusual lightning rods were installed in rural areas, and it became the forerunner of popularization.

Fountain quality is weakly acidic, hypotonic. It is said that it is effective for gout, allergic diseases, obesity if you drink it.

The history of the stone steps street

In the 4th year of Tensho (1576), Mr. Takeda’s subordinate Mr. 7 used a sloping land to form a spa town. 
It was considered the first hot spring resort city plan in Japan to draw hot springs from Yumoto, make stone steps above them and separate hot water into left and right partitioned houses. 
At the moment the memorial is honored with respect to his predecessor ‘s achievement and it is installed in the stone stairway street.

In the past, there were 12 ryokan with hot-spring rights, each of which has a zodiac sign as a symbol of a shopkeeper, and when entering the Edo era it has become possible to delegate management of the concerned office. 
At present, each plate of the Zodi is left on the stone stairs where the inn was.

Tokutomi Rou Memorial Literary Museum

Dissolution
Writer Tokutomi Rika of the Meiji era wrote a novel "Unfriendly" in this place, and in the later years it changed to Ikaho with a grave pressure and passed away. The room which was between the demise has been relocated and preserved and released as a memorial hall.
